Ken-Rock Community Center is renowned for its youth recreation sports programs.  Over 1200 boys and girls participate in year round sports and recreational activities.  Fun, Sportsmanship and skill development is the focus of these programs along with a stress on character development.  The softball program plays at the Don Schmid Youth Sports Center located behind Riverdahl School, 3520 Kishwaukee Street.  

 All of Ken-Rock's sports programs depend on volunteers.  Call Gregg Wright if you are interested.

Registration Dates:

Tuesday, October 7 - 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, October 9 - 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL LEAGUES

Registration is held for boys and girls ages 4 and above in early March. Practice begins the first week of May and the season opens the first week of June thru July.  Fee is $80.00 which includes shirt, cap, award and $20.00 of pre-paid raffle tickets.  Age is determined by August 1.  Age is determined by March 1 for 4 year olds. 

Ken-Rock is a member of the United States SlowPitch Association.  Participation rules:  All players will bat throughout the game and play at least 2 consecutive innings on defense (6 outs).  All games are played at the Don Schmid Youth Sports Complex behind Riverdahl School, Sandy Hollow Road and Kishwaukee Street.

JUNIOR TACKLE FOOTBALL

Registrations are held in early June and late July. In 2008 there will be three divisions, Flyweight, Lightweight and Heavyweight for children 7-12 years old.  New players must provide a copy of their birth certificate. Fee is $115.00 and includes uniform and $20 pre-paid raffle tickets.  $25.00 will be refunded when equipment is returned.

Ken-Rock Bengal's football teams are members of the Rock Valley Junior Tackle Association.    Required practices are Monday - Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 - noon during the month of August.  Games are played on Saturday and Sunday.  Practices are held at Don Schmid Youth Complex.  Home games are held at Jefferson High School.

Register Oct. 7, & 9 from 6:30 - 9:30 or Oct. 11 from 10-Noon

Registration is held for boys and girls ages 5-14 in early October. Games and practices are the same day of the week allowing for a one day a week committment.  Practice during the month of November.  Games begin the first week of December.  Fee is $85.00 which includes shirt, shorts, award and $20.00 of pre-paid raffle tickets.  Age is determined by September 1.

Participation rules:  All children play a minimum of 1/2 the game.  All games and practices are at Ken-Rock Community Center unless noted.

SOCCER

 

OUTDOOR SOCCER

Outdoor Soccer coached by Ed Garza is a new program beginning August 2008 for children ages 5-13.  Play and practice 2 evenings a week through August.  Days and times based on actual number of children registered.  $50.00 registration fee includes T-Shirt.

TIGER TOTS

Ken-Rock offers 3 types of Tiger Tots classes for children age 3-5 years.  Parent participation is required. 

  • Classes are 6 sessions in length
  • Cost $50.00 per child. 

Class dates are as follows:

TIGER TOTS SOCCER - NO FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULED

3-5 year olds will learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and scoring a goal.  Great basic skills will be developed.

 

TIGER TOTS BASKETBALL - FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULED

Wednesdays 6-6:45 pm

Wed. Oct. 3, Tues. Oct. 9, Thurs. Oct. 11, Thurs. Oct. 18, Tues. Oct. 23 and Thurs. Oct. 25

Children 3-5 years old will learn basic fundamentals of basketball.  Tots will go through drills dribbling, passing and shooting to improve their basic skills. 

 

TIGER TOTS SOFTBALL - NO FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULED

Children 3-5 years old will learn basic fundamentals of t-ball.  They will learn skills including batting, running basis, thowing and catching.

CHEERLEADING

NOT AVAILABLE IN 2008

Our Ken-Rock Bengals football program is looking for girls ages 8-12 years of age to cheer for their team. The cost for the program is $65.00 and must be paid when you register. Registrations are held the last week of July through the 1st week of August. Practice will be held Tues-Thurs. at 6p.m. and games girls will cheer during the Ken-Rock Bengal's football games.  For more information email greggw@kenrock.org.
